Main research activities in last 5 years

§  Hot as well as cold deformation behaviour and structure-forming processes of steels and selected non-ferrous metal alloys (intermetallics, magnesium alloys etc.).

§  Physical simulation of forming processes on originally developed laboratory rolling mills (thermomechanical processing, final properties, etc.).

§  Experimental study and mathematical description of plasticity, hardening and restoration processes at hot forming of alloys.

Solved projects and other activities

Up to now 11 successfully educated postgraduate students (PhD degree gained) in the field of Materials forming. Leadership of the grant projects 106/93/0147, 106/01/0371 and 106/04/1351 (Czech Science Foundation). Leadership of two five-year research projects of the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic (VS 96044, MSM 273600001 with the total subsidy of 178 000 EUR or 250 000 EUR) as well as research plan MSM 6198910015 (2005-2011; 266 000 EUR a year).

Foundation and leadership of the interdisciplinary Institute of Modelling and Control of Forming Processes, giving research perspective mainly to young specialists. This workplace gained, thanks to the successively built unique laboratory complex and its extraordinary experimental possibilities, a considerable appreciation of scientific and technical community. As evidence of the prestige of this institute can serve awarding the Prize of the Engineering Academy of the Czech Republic 2001 for a significant contribution to the development of engineering research in the Czech Republic (by the project „Laboratory rolling mill Tandem“).
