Evaluation Methods of Dilatometer Curves of Phase Transformations

An article intends to reflect some causes of differences among phase transformation diagrams of the same steel acquired by different laboratories. Method of evaluation of dilatometric curve is important besides correct calibrations, initial state and austenitization conditions. The methods of intersections of tangents, percentage of the volume changes and changes of derivative are discussed. The examples show the influence of other processes than phase transformation on evaluation of transformation temperatures. Recommendation for specific evaluation methods with regard to the technological purpose of measuring is an output of this work.
